NIRF Ranking 2020:
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has released this year’s National Institute Ranking Framework List. IIT Madras has got the number one spot in this list. MHRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the NIRF ranking 2020. The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore has got the second place in this list. While the third place is from IIT Delhi. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Human Resource Development started the NIRF ranking in 2015.

Banaras Hindu University Retain its 3rd Position in NIRF Ranking
Like 2019, Banaras Hindu University retains its third position in NIRF ranking in the year 2020 too. Its first ranking list was released in 2016. Under this, the ranking of Indian educational institutions in different categories is decided. In this list, the University of Science of Bangalore ranks first in the university category. While the second number is from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi. Banaras Hindu University is placed at number three.
Delhi’s Miranda House number one in the college category
In this year’s NIRF list, Delhi-based Miranda House College has been ranked number one in the college category. While number two is from Lady Shri Ram College and the third number is of Hindu College. That is, this year all the three colleges are on top of Delhi in the National Institute Ranking Framework list. In 2016, a ranking of institutes in just four categories was released under the NIRF, which increased to nine categories by 2019.
This is the fifth time the NIRF rankings have been released. This year 3800 institutes had applied in different categories, which is 20% higher than the previous year. The special thing is that this year Dental Institutes have also been placed in the ranking. Earlier this year, this ranking was released in April, but this time due to coronavirus, NIRF ranking has been released in June. IIT Bombay is at number three in the engineering rankings this year. In the management category, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad is at number one and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore at number two, while Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata is at number three.
The first number in the Law category is National Law College, Bangalore. National Law University, New Delhi is at number two and Law College, Hyderabad at number three. In the medical category, the first number is of AIIMS, New Delhi and the second number is of PGIMER, Chandigarh. Whereas, in dental category, the first number is Malana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, Delhi and the second number is from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Udupi and the third number is DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune.
