During the time of this COVID-19 pandemic, when the cases are increasing almost by 40 thousand per day & now has reached till 12 lakhs. At the same time, the Banaras Hindu University has agreed to the guidelines of UGC to conduct the examinations of the final year students by September.

Ever since the UGC guidelines were released on Monday night, students have been seen against this decision and are venting their anger on social media. According to the guidelines issued by the UGC, final year students’ examinations can be conducted online, offline or both ways. It has also been told in the revised guidelines of UGC that students with back-logs will have to take the exams compulsorily.

Moreover, the Human Resource Development Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said: ” In consultation with MHA and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, UGC has changed its earlier guidelines related to university examinations in view of safety, career and placement of students.” The guidelines were released on Monday’s night and it was told that examination can be conducted both in online and offline mode. Also, the students who will not be able to attend the examinations in September can give their exams afterwards, University holds the right to conduct these special examinations at any time so that the student doesn’t face any issues.

But the students of the Banaras Hindu University are very angry from this decision and are trending against the UGC and BHU administration on the social media. #NOBHUEXAMINCOVID.

One user wrote, “Today, all departments and institutes have understood the situation and have chosen another route. IIT itself has worked with a different system. Why are Faculty of Arts and other departments still so naïve? Why can’t there be a different route for them?”
