Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU):
Banaras Hindu University has extended its leave from 1 July to 31 July. In the Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs for Unlock 2.0, it was told that all schools, colleges and institutes will remain closed till 31 July. After the release of the guidelines, Banaras Hindu University has decided to extend the vacation. Earlier, BHU had announced its holidays till 30 June during Unlock 1.0.
As per the administration,
It is mentioned that the University shall remain closed till 31″ July, 2020, during the unlock2.0 period.
However, the above shall not apply to the Medical and emergency services i.e. Sir Sunderlal Hospital, Trauma Centre, Electric & Water Supply, Sanitation, Security, Dairy and those directly engaged in taking measures to control spread of COVID-19.
In order to ensure the safety of the Faculty members/ Teachers/ Researchers/ Non-Teaching staff, All the HOD /Controlling Officers of office concerned are requested to advise and permit the staff under their control to work from home till 31.07.2020. However, in case of exigency, any Faculty member/Teacher/ Researcher/Non-Teaching staff may attend or be asked to attend the office with all precautionary measures. All necessary safety measures shall be taken by the staff engaged in these services.
BHU UET & PET Entrance Test from 16th August:
BHU will now conduct entrance examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in August. This important decision was taken in a meeting of the High-Level Committee held under the chairmanship of Rakesh Bhatnagar.
Various faculty heads, directors of institutes and other members attended this meeting of University Admission Coordination Board and Apex Advisory Committee. BHU PRO Dr Rajesh Singh said that the possibility of conducting the entrance examination in August has been explored keeping in mind the situation arising out of Covid-19, the movement of trains and the guidelines issued by the Government of India regarding Unlock 2.0
For the academic session 2020-2021, entrance examinations were proposed between July 10 and July 29. The meeting agreed to conduct the entrance exam between 16 to 31 August 2020, after extensive discussion on the new possible dates of the entrance examination. However, the entrance examinations on these dates will be conducted only on the basis of the guidelines issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development and UGC, given the status of Covid-19. Candidates have been asked to regularly check the university website for information related to the entrance examination.
