Weekend lockdown in UP Full Guidelines:

On Tuesday, the Government of Uttar Pradesh issued guidelines regarding the restrictions applicable to the prevention of COVID-19 epidemics and communicable diseases in the Uttar Pradesh state. State Chief Secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari issued these guidelines on Tuesday to all the divisional commissioners, District Magistrates, Additional Director General of Police and senior officers of the police administration. He said that from every Friday’s night ten o’clock to Monday’s morning (5 AM), all government offices in the entire state will be closed.

Markets will remain closed

However essential services and banks are excluded from this scope. He said that all urban and rural haats, markets, Galla mandi, commercial establishments will remain closed. Their opening period will be from 9 am to 9 pm between the remaining days i.e. Monday to Friday. He said that the weekly detention to be held on other days of the week will also be kept on Saturday and Sunday only.

Set up the market except these two days

The Chief Secretary said that weekly markets are set up on Saturday and Sunday. They can be set up any day between Monday and Friday. He said that all religious places may remain open during this period by maintaining social distancing and following other necessary rules. He said that during this period all industrial factories located in rural and urban areas of the state, including industries related to Information Technology (IT), will continue to run.

Any restrictions on health services

State Chief Secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari said that during this period, all essential services like health and medical services and supply of essential commodities will continue as before. There will be no restriction on the movement of persons associated with these services. He informed that the movement of Railway and buses of the State Road Transport Corporation will continue as before. Necessary buses will be arranged by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation for the movement of passengers coming by rail.

International and domestic air services will continue unchanged

Rajesh Tiwari also mentioned that international and domestic air services will continue unchanged. There will be no restriction on the movement of passengers going from airports to their destinations. He said that there will be no restriction on the movement of cargo vehicles. Also, transport will continue on national and state highways and petrol pumps and dhabas along its banks will open as before.

  • The Chief Secretary said that during this period, the district administration will conduct a massive campaign for cleanliness and sanitation and clean drinking water supply and the officers and employees involved in it will be free from these restrictions. The offices related to these will also be open.
  • Through the COVID-19 and Communicable Disease Surveillance Team, the Health Department is carrying out a comprehensive medical screening and surveillance campaign of all the members living in every household, which will keep going on and the offices will be open.
  • During this period all major construction works such as expressways, big bridges and roads, major construction of the Public Works Department, government buildings and private projects will continue.
  • The said guidelines will be effectively monitored by the nodal officers posted in the districts to review the COVID-19 infection along with the predetermined obligations.
    The Chief Secretary said that all the mandis and shops of vegetables and fruits will remain open as before.
